Born in Washington County AL in 1826. Family left Washington County 1828, moving to Pisgah area in Rankin County, MS. Family moved to Ludlow, Scott County in 1834. Married Sarah Smith 1848 in Madison County. She died within a few years. He later married Mary Mildred Ledbetter (1836-1912) in Leake County on September 8, 1853. They had eight children. Captain, Company F. 36th Infantry, CSA ("Hillsboro Rebels"). Enlisted 2-24-1862 at Meridian, MS. Discharged 5-4-1865. Active in Scott County politics in 1873, ran for sheriff. Purchased 200 acres in Leake and Madison Counties from his father in 1879. Lived at Good Hope, Leake County in 1880. Lived near Harperville, MS in 1885. Moved to Jasper County after 1885. Purchased 1.625 acres near Lake Como, Jasper County, MS 3/4/1897. Died August 7th the same year. His family sold the Lake Como property 11/2/1897.
