Various documents indicate the spelling as Claude and Claud. Indiscussions with Claud Clary, Jr., on August 8, 2002, I was informedthat the senior Clary's name is correctly spelled C L A U D E.Contrariwise, the junior Clary's name is spelled C L A U D. Moreover,Claud Jr. informed me that his father was given a different, butunknown, name at birth. This may account for the unknown "Frd D."listed on the 1880 Federal Census for Marshall Township, SalineCounty, Missouri, under Samuel F. Clary. By the 1900 Federal Censusfor Brownville, Nemaha County, Nebraska, under Joseph A. Beard, hisname is clearly given as Claude S.
Claude was an Auctioneer, sold real estate and they had a fruit farmand lived in Peru most of their married life.
