      Verna Marie SLOAT Brown

      Verna Marie Brown, 84, of Vandalia died at 7 a.m. Tuesday April 23,1985, in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. Services will be heldat l:30 p.m. Friday in Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia with Dr. ArchieBrown officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery. Visitationis from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Memorials: Fayette County Heart Fund.Mrs. Brown was born Nov. 27, 1900 in Fayette County, daughter ofWilliam and Julia Buckmaster Sloat. She was a retired practical nurseand manager of Fayette Count Nursing Home. She married James Hall. Hepreceeded her in death. She married Warren Sperry. He preceeded herin death. She married George Brown in 1952, and he died in 1974.Surviving are her daughters, Mrs. Melbourne (Vivian) Clayton of DesMones, Iowa, Mrs. John (Pearl) Woodward of Ghoshen, Mass., and MrsFloyd (Ileen) Bennett of Decatur; two specsons; two stepdaughters; 13grandchldren; several great grandchildren, and severalgreat-great-grandchildren. Two sons, three brothers, and two sisterspreceeded her in death.
